Mary Ndung’u is a social worker, with over a decade of experience in providing psycho-social support to marginalized individuals who have complex health challenges. Mary’s leadership has inspired newcomers, immigrants and African, Caribbean, and Black women affected by HIV. Supporting people living with HIV since 2002, Mary collaborates with a range of service providers in both her frontline and research capacities. Mary is involved in a number of community-based research studies such as the Ontario A/C Study, CHIWOS Study at the Women and HIV Research Program, Women's College Hospital and has provided online counseling support for LGBTQIA+ experiences during the COVID-19pandemic in the Safe Hands Safe Hearts research project at Women’s Health in Women’s Hands, CHC. Mary sits on the ACB CHIWOS Committee, Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment (CAAT) Board, Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) Cohort Study (OCS) Governance Committee, Expert Panel Advisory Committee with ViiV Healthcare among others. Mary is currently the HIV Prevention and Care Cascade program lead at Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre. She also offers part-time frontline supports at Fife House Foundation. She is an advocate who is motivated by a commitment to pursue social justice and places great emphasis on equity -focused access to treatment and linkage to care support services to build healthy Black communities.
