Shainah Adolphe is a Master of Social Work candidate at the University of Toronto specializing in the mental health and health field of study. She has previously earned an Honours Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Psychology and Integrative Biology from the University of Toronto along with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Health and Safety from Toronto Metropolitan University. Previously serving as co-chair for the youth advisory group at her local community health center, she developed, and delivered activities designed to increase social supports among senior clients. As a research and evaluation assistant, she gained experience completing environmental scans focused on exploring the funding landscape of the non profit sector in Ontario. More recently, Shainah designed and facilitated workshops on anti oppressive practice within clinical and research settings. In addition, she led the development of the annual anti racism learning series presented hospital wide. She has held roles in several other industries including banking, insurance, and technology. Shainah’s research interests lie in addressing health inequities impacting the wellbeing of Black communities and expanding access to culturally relevant health programming. In her spare time, she enjoys live music, reading and hiking.
