Sierrah Augustin will be an incoming fourth-year student, double majoring in Biology and Health Studies at the University of Toronto St. George campus. As she’s passionate about studying various infectious agents and their ability to infiltrate human hosts, she aspires to pursue a career in Clinical Microbiology. Sierrah believes that understanding the spread of infectious diseases on a molecular level can be vital to public health practice because it can support developing and deploying effective interventions for human health. She previously worked at a lab in UofT's Chemistry department as an undergraduate researcher, studying human respiratory mucus's physical and chemical properties and its interaction with nanoparticles. In addition, she also had the opportunity to create the blog site, CC’s Science Hub, which served as a purpose to explore and share various topics in health science. For the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year, Sierrah will be a part of the UofT Scientista Executive Team as a Research Team Member, working to create informative content that displays the club’s initiative to empower pre-professional women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). When Sierrah is not on campus, she enjoys painting, reading and spontaneous trips.
