Izehi Akala is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto Scarborough, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Health Studies and Psychology. Her interests include Black health equity, mental health, and understanding how social and systemic factors shape the health experiences of Black communities. Through her work with the Black Health Equity Lab, she has contributed to research exploring the mental health experiences of Black students across the University of Toronto. She is passionate about research that centres Black voices and contributes to more equitable and culturally responsive healthcare.
