Nyasha Chawanda is a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus (UTSC) pursing a double major in Human Biology and Health Studies–Population Health Stream (Science). Nyasha is deeply committed to understanding how community-centred research can strengthen health outcomes in Black communities. Nyasha has completed research supported by the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and hopes to continue contributing her skills to drive meaningful change. Nyasha has a deep passion for Type 1 diabetes research, with a focus on understanding lived experiences and improving long-term health outcomes.
Nyasha is eager to contribute to work that reflects the goals of equity, collaboration and community impact , while remaining culturally responsive.
