Ama Ackon is a Ghanaian, equity-focused practitioner with experience in community wellness, crisis response, and youth justice. She currently works with the City of Toronto, where she coordinates culturally responsive wellness resources and crisis supports that strengthen access, care, and inclusion across diverse communities.
Ama also brings years of experience working in her home community of Rexdale, supporting youth education, mental health, and a range of community-driven initiatives. Alongside her municipal work, she supports community-based research projects that integrate lived experience and local knowledge into health and social policy. She holds a Master of Social Work (Social Justice and Diversity), an Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care, and an Honours BA in Sociology and Criminology. Her work is grounded in equity, collaboration, and collective wellbeing.
Outside of work, Ama enjoys Toronto’s vibrant cultural scene and can often be found at concerts, community events, and food festivals across the city.
