Andre Brady is a second-year student in the Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology program at the University of Toronto, with a strong interest in community well-being and health equity. His commitment to strengthening communities is reflected in his hands-on involvement in initiatives supporting underserved populations, including painting affordable housing units for the City of Toronto and leading a team of students in developing a community garden with Feed Scarborough. These experiences have shaped his understanding of the important connections between community well-being and health.
Andre has also supported health equity initiatives at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he served as a Volunteer Coordinator. In this role, he helped organize ED Discovery Day, introducing high school students from underserved communities to careers in medicine. He also supported a cardiac crash course day, coordinating logistics and mentoring students as they navigated the transition into high school.
As a Research Assistant with the Black Health Equity Lab (BHEL), Andre is looking to deepen his qualitative research skills and contribute to research that advances health equity and improves health outcomes for Black and other marginalized communities.
Outside of his academic and research pursuits, Andre is a lifelong athlete who has played both volleyball and basketball. He was also recognized with his high school’s Black Excellence Award.
